Where Do I Start In My Journey in Faith?
Let's assume that you have never pursued a path in faith or maybe you have pursued a path in faith, but do not feel fulfilled. We will help you by introducing you to truth. We do not intend to persuade you to a particular view of a group or religion. Judge for yourself.
First, most references are taken from the King James bible. If a different version is used, then we will advise you of that fact.
Let's start by looking at a verse in 2 Peter 1:20,21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
So, obviously the verse in 2 Peter 20 states that there has to be knowledge of something to start the understanding of truth.
Prophecy of the scripture means simply means the speaking (prophecy) of the written word (scripture). Any private interpretation simply means that one person exclusively (private) cannot explain something that is not immediately obvious
So, in other words we cannot by our own reasoning decide that we will take scriptures and put any spin we want on those words.
This is stated in 2 Peter 21.
The speaking (prophecy) of the written word (scripture) did not come by the will of man but holy men of old – Moses, Ezra, Nehemiah, David, Solomon, Isiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonas, Micah, Nathan, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, John, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter, and Jude – as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
So, it is evident that they could not – first, write by their own private interpretation and second, write by an influence directing them. This influence was the Holy Ghost.
What is the Holy Ghost?
The Holy Ghost is God.
John 4:24 states: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Worship means to love unquestioningly and uncritically.
We cannot love God unless we do it in the Spirit and in truth and there is only one Spirit.
